Jennifer did an amazing job cutting my hair. My hair was quite damaged from a previous highlight I had done somewhere else and it needed to be fixed. I wanted to go short with a shaggy modern look and she did exactly what I had in mind, while getting rid of most of the damaged hair. I really enjoyed meeting her. I have to mention that my hair wash and scalp massage was fantastic! Didn’t want it to end! Sadly, I don’t remember the young woman’s name who did it.

AND… if that’s not enough (because it is) Gamine is also eco-friendly. I learned last night that they painstakingly recycle hair and all single use waste via a Canadian company that uses hair to sop up oil spills & such!!! I’ve had the same hair stylist for over 30 years but lost her when she moved out of state. After trying multiple people, I’m so glad I found Sterling! He listened to my ideas and looked at photos of what I’m aiming to do with my hair which is a very short bob and he delivered. But I went back for an adjustment for the first time in my life and I’m so glad I did. Sterling was gracious and kind and took off a little from the bottom and back which was really bugging me and it made all the difference in the world. It was a bit pricier than I expected, but I realize I’m out of touch with how much things actually cost these days.

My friends ask me why my hair looks so good and my answer is always the same: ANGI! She’s an artist. Highly recommend for folks who have long, fine, wavy hair. I don’t know how Angi does what she does but ever since I started going to her, my hair has grown out beautifully, even if I go months between cuts. Also, even if you have a different hair type, there’s probably someone at Gamine for you—I see people of all generations and genders whenever I go in (except kids, fyi) and they all have one thing in common: They look fabulous when they’re done!

The salon is great looking, and everything about it is comfortable and classy. A lovely thing is the quiet - no loud music blaring, the acoustics are good so that it is a calming place. Sterling was my hair cutter and stylist and he is as smart about hair as anyone who has ever cut my hair. He’s also a very personable and knowledgeable person. I think her name is Ashley at the front area (may be the owner) and she was so helpful to all the stylists and to me. A great place to be on any given day in Los Angeles.

Anthony is one of the biggest coloring experts and executive trainers in the entire business, especially for LA. Everyone is beyond lucky he’s landed down for a while in Echo Park area with Gamine :) Anthony can do an effortlessly perfect touch-up/routine refresh, but even if your color is sensitive, risking damage, or seemingly beyond repair, he 100% knows how to turn it around at EVERY step — and work it into something you’ll genuinely love. Moreover, it is very fair pricing for the level of expertise and resumé he has, given, he can make it so that you won’t have to return for maintenance within eight months to one year depending on preference. Mina also does color and works closely with Anthony. Anthony only specializes in color, but Mina is insanely talented in both cuts and color. For expert cuts of any length, style, or vibe, I recommend Mina. From basic hair-health maintenance to something extraordinary, she’s made a huge mark in LA. Mina is beyond talented and meticulous — but also above and beyond in patience, kindness, and listening. If you’re looking for explicit, perfect results but also really value a comfortable, fun, relaxing, and enjoyable experience — book with her! My family and I were on a trip in LA from Virginia , I had been growing my hair out and while in LA I thought why not cut and color? I did my research and found this hidden gem! (I\'m a very picky person) I read the reviews, checked out the service they offered as well as the team members and decided to schedule an appointment. I was able to schedule and within 24hrs I was in, they messaged me my reminders (multiple times) and 1/2 hr before my appointment again. Once I walked in I was immediately greeted and treated as if I was the only person that matter (that is awesome)! They were so engaging and you don\'t see this very often. I met with the stylists Sterling he was FANTASTIC!!!! We talked through my idea, he gave me his expert opinion and worked his magic l! I then met with Anthony he was AMAZING!!!! Told him what color I wanted and he delivered, they both were super nice to chat with, extremely professional and if I ever return to LA I will definitely be returning. I can\'t remember the name of the lady who washed my hair, but is seems like she had melatonin in her hands, she was GREAT!!! Overall experience... scheduling an appointment 10/10, customer service 10/10, pricing 10/10, service 10/10. Sterling is the best. He has brought my hair back after a Covid haircut that has taken literally 2 years to correct (not from this salon). I live in West Hollywood and travel to Silverlake to see Sterling for my cuts. As a Londoner, I prefer a cooler blunter cut for my long hair that remains flattering and feminine - the Beverly Hills realtor blowout isn’t my thing. People always ask me where I get my hair cut, I’m not price driven but people assume the cut has cost me double. Sterling also has a really nice temperament as a person.

I have tried baby bangs once before, and the stylist unfortunately wasn’t experienced in it, so left with ‘peacock bangs’ since my hair is naturally straight. Jennifer was able layer out the bangs to make it easy to style and make sure it looked cute having it pulled back as well since my line of work makes me pull back my hair daily. If you have a small flat iron and get Gamine’s pomade stick from R+CO you can have baby bangs with flat straight hair!
